No less than 256 evacuated Nigerians arrived Wednesday in Lagos from the United Arab Emirates.
They reached256 Nigerians, Lagos, via an Emirate Airline around 19: 40.
On arrival, displaced persons should be placed in isolation for 14 days.
Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama has confirmed his arrival.
“The flight of 256 Nigerians left Dubai and landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos,” he said.
The returnees were supposed to arrive at the airport at 15: 00, but one of the passengers went to work.
According to the Nigerians of the Diaspora Commission, the plane had to change course to the United Arab Emirates.
Kafayat Amusan, one of the Nigerian travelers stranded from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was taken to Lagos by a child aboard the airline Emirates.”
President Nidcom Abike Dabiri-Yerevan also confirmed the arrival of the displaced in Lagos.
Also, he congratulated Amusan for adding his family and prayed that he would return safely to the country.
“Welcome home! A place of mandatory isolation must be provided. All 256 were negative for COVID-19 before boarding from Dubai,” he added.
Reports indicate that more Nigerians will be evacuated in the coming days.
According to Onyeama, more than 4,000 Nigerians are waiting to be evacuated home.
